the most celebrated of the ancient Arabian poets, and a contemporary of Mahomet, whom he satirized. He was poisoned while attempting to avenge the death of his father, who had been murdered by his tribe. His poem was published at Leyden in 1748; and a translation of it by Sir William Jones appeared in 1782.
