or Anguitia (from Anguis) an Italian divinity, was believed to have once been a mortal woman, and to have taught the people the use of antidotes for the poison of serpents. ANGHIERA, or Angeria, a beautiful town of Austrian Lombardy, 38 miles north-west of Milan. It stands on a height on the eastern side of the Lago Maggiore.
