the act of annexing or uniting one thing with another. In law it is applied to the uniting of lands or rents to the Crown. In Scottish Law it also signifies the appropriation of church-lands to the Crown, and of lands lying at a distance from the kirk to which they belong to another kirk to which they are more contiguous.
