(properly Bienenvitz). Peter, a distinguished astronomer, born in 1495, was professor of mathematics at Ingolstadt. His principal works are his Cosmographia, and his Astronomicon Caesarum; the latter of which is remarkable as containing observations on the comet of 1531, subsequently known as Halley's. This work was illustrated with revolving paper planispheres. His son Philip was likewise a distinguished mathematician.
