(from ad, to, and pretium, value), one who rates or sets a value upon goods, &c. It is practised by brokers of household furniture, to which set of men the word is chiefly applied; yet upholsterers and other brokers are employed, or even any person supposed to be skilled in the commodities to be appraised or valued.
