of Pitane in Æolis, the author of two astronomical treatises, which are the most ancient specimens of Greek mathematics extant. They are edited by Dasypodius in his Sphaerica Doctrine Propositiones, Argent. 1572. He probably lived about B.C. 350. See Delambre's Hist. de l'Astronomie Ancienne.
