Pompeo Girolamo, a native of Lucca, who was considered in Italy as a great painter in the eighteenth century; but his altar-pieces in various parts of Italy, and his works in Lisbon, where some of his best are exhibited, show the decay of the Roman school in that century from the grandeur of the preceding epoch.
