(ancient Bergia), a town of Spain, province of Barcelona, in a mountainous district, 14 leagues N.N.W. of the city of Barcelona. It has a garrison, several churches and convents, and a hospital founded A.D. 1290. Pop. 6999, principally engaged in cotton weaving. It is a place of considerable industry and commerce.
