It is agreeably situated on the river Ivel, by which the town and neighbourhood are supplied with abundance of coal, timber, and merchandise. The land near it is remarkably prolific; and being cultivated chiefly as gardens, it yields abundant crops of culinary vegetables, and a large supply of seeds for the London seedsmen.
