BOOTHIA FELIX

Volume 5 · 84 words · 1860 Edition

an extensive peninsula of British North America, between Lat. 69. and 75. N. and Long. 92. and 97. W. It was discovered by Captain, now Sir J. Ross, in 1830; and named after Sir Felix Booth. It forms the western side of the gulf of the same name, into which Prince Regent's Inlet leads from Baffin's Bay. It is almost separated from the American shores by a chain of lakes; and is perhaps joined to North Somerset, discovered by Sir E. Parry in 1819.
