a large town of Central Africa, capital of a province of the same name, in the kingdom of Borgoo. It is situated on an island of the Niger, in Lat. 10° 14' N. Long. 5° 20' E., and is a place of considerable strength, being inclosed by a well-built wall. Pop. variously estimated from 10,000 to 18,000. It was here that the enterprising traveller Park met his untimely death.
