(in Welsh Corne), the name given to those ancient heaps of stones found in Scotland and Wales; generally of a conical form, and surmounted by a flat stone. They appear to have been used as sepulchral monuments, to commemorate great events, and perhaps also in connection with religious rites. See BARROW.
