a market-town of England, county of Gloucester, 24 miles N.E. of the town of Gloucester, and 90 miles from London. It is situated in a well-wooded valley, and consists of one long street, with some fine old buildings, among which are the market-house, courthouse, grammar-school, which has an exhibition at Pembroke College, Oxford, and a beautiful Gothic church.
