San, a town of South America, in the republic of Venezuela, on the river Aguare, 150 miles S.W. of Caracas. It was formerly a place of considerable importance, but has now probably not more than 5000 inhabitants, principally engaged in the rearing of cattle and in the cultivation of indigo, coffee, and the other productions of the district.
