or NEW PHILIPPINES, are upwards of 400 small islands in the Pacific Ocean, arranged in numerous groups, between Lat. N. 6. and 11., and Long. E. 138. and 163. The principal groups are Yap, Hogol, Ualan, &c. The inhabitants belong to the Malay race, and subsist chiefly by fishing.
