a town of Hindustan, in the British district of Coimbatore, presidency of Madras. It is situated on the north bank of the Ambraiwati, or Caroor river, and contains above 1000 houses. The Caroor was the ancient boundary between the dominions of Mysore and Trichinopoly. It was taken by the British in 1760. It is 42 miles west from Trichinopoly. E. Long. 78. 9. N. Lat. 10. 58.
