a pleasantly-situated and well-built town of Ireland, in the county of Monaghan, 14 miles S.E. of Monaghan, and 62 miles from Dublin. It has a church and several chapels, market-house, workhouse, hospital, bridewell, &c. Pop. (1851) including workhouse, 2841, principally engaged in the linen trade.
