a pleasantly situated and well built town of Ireland, county of Kildare, on the Liffey, 11 miles west of Dublin. It has a church, chapel, savings-bank, hospital, large woollen factory, a handsome stone bridge over the river; and in 1851, 1674 inhabitants.
