ST., a flourishing and well-built town of France, department of Loire, in a fine valley at the confluence of the Gier and Bon, on the railway from St Etienne to Lyons, 8 miles E. by N. of the former. It has a fine church, public baths, and several good buildings; manufactures of cotton and silk fabrics, ribbons, and laces; and considerable cast-iron and nail works. Pop. 9000.
