a large inland town of Siam, capital of a province of the same name, on the south bank of a river near its mouth in the Gulf of Siam, 150 miles S.E. of Bangkok. It has a considerable trade, exporting pepper, cardamoms, rosewood, dyewoods, ship timber, hides, horns, ivory, &c.; and in the vicinity are mines of precious stones.
