a pleasantly situated and well-built town of France, capital of an arrondissement of the same name, in the department of Indre, 22 miles S.E. of Chateauroux. It has an old castle, a fine church, communal college, manufactures of woollens and leather, and some trade in cattle, wool, hides, and chestnuts. Pop. 4889.
