a town of Piedmont, province of Mondo-via, near the junction of the Stura and the Tanaro, 30 miles S.E. of Turin. It is well built, surrounded by walls, and watered by a canal from the Stura. Its principal manufacture is silk, and it has some trade in corn and wine. In 1796 its citadel and other fortifications were dismantled. Pop. 9000.
