one of the three Parcae or Fates, daughters of Jupiter and Themis, or of Erbus and Nox. Clotho held the distaff, and spun the thread of life, whence her name from κλάδωσις, to spin. She was represented as wearing a crown with seven stars, and a variegated robe. See PARCE.
