a town of France, department of Seine-et-Oise, capital of an arrondissement of the same name, situated at the junction of the Essonne with the Seine, 18 miles S.S.E. of Paris. It has very extensive flour mills, and a large corn magazine belonging to government, for the supply of Paris. It has also considerable manufactures of linen, cotton, paper, leather, &c. Pop. (1851) 46,45.
