(Welsh *Pontfaen*), a small borough and market-town of Wales, county of Glamorgan, 12 miles west of Cardiff. It consists chiefly of one long street divided by the Ddaw, over which is a good bridge. It contains a handsome church, town-hall, and a grammar-school with 2 fellowships, 2 scholarships, and an exhibition at Jesus College, Oxford. Market-day, Tuesday. It unites with Cardiff and Llantrissaint in sending a member to parliament. Pop. (1851) 1066.
