(Lat. currere, from curro, to run, to flow), literally signifies running, flowing, passing. Hence, passing from person to person, or from hand to hand; circulating; as current opinions, current coin. In commerce it is applied in an analogous sense to the price of any commodity; as current value—that is, the ordinary or present value. As applied to time it is equivalent to now present or passing; as the current month or year.
