Claude François Millet (1611–1678), a French mathematician and astronomer, descended of a noble family, and born at Chambéry. He was successively professor of mathematics at Clermont, Marseilles, and Turin; and published an edition of Euclid, which was long the favourite text-book on the Continent. His works were collected in 3 vols. folio, under the title of Mundus Mathematicus.
