(Greek, δια through, and χέλωνας juice), a name given by the ancient Greek physicians to an emollient plaster, composed of the resinous juices of certain herbs. The term is retained in modern pharmacy, to denote a plaster prepared by boiling hydrated oxide of lead with olive oil.
