DUCAS, MICHAEL, a Greek historian who flourished under Constantine XII., and, after the fall of Constantinople, was employed in various diplomatic functions by the princes of Lesbos. He is the author of a history beginning with the death of John Palaeologus I., and extending as far as the capture of Lesbos in 1462, which has been edited by Bullialdus (Paris, 1649), and by Bekker (Bonn, 1834). Although barbarous in style, it is both judicious and trustworthy.
