a market-town of Somersetshire, situated in a beautiful vale, at the foot of the Quantock Hills, about a mile from the Bristol Channel. It consists chiefly of two streets, one running north and south, and the other branching off towards the west. The principal buildings are the castle and the parish church, the latter a spacious and handsome edifice with a tower. Pop. of parish (1851) 1184.
