(the ancient Epidamnum and Dyrrachium), a seaport-town of Albania, European Turkey, in Lat. 41.17 N., Long. 19.27 E. It stands on the S. side of a projecting tongue of land, and has a safe harbour for vessels of small size, but larger vessels must anchor about a mile from the town. It has an active import trade in British goods by way of Triest, and an export trade in tobacco and corn to Italy. Pop. probably about 6000. See EPIDAMNUS.
