By the gift of a necklace she was bribed by Polynices to reveal the hiding-place of her husband, who was unwilling to accompany the Argives against Thebes. Her faithlessness was avenged by Alcmena, her son, who put her to death as soon as he had learned that his father had perished in the expedition.
