EUBULUS

Volume 9 · 69 words · 1860 Edition

a distinguished comic poet of the middle comedy, was a native of Athens, where he flourished about B.C. 370-80. He is said to have written no fewer than 104 plays, of fifty of which the titles have been preserved by Suidas. The fragments of Eubulus that survive have been edited by Meineke, and serve to show, if nothing else, at least that his diction was remarkably pure and tasteful.
