a town of Hungary, capital of the district of Little Cumania, on the road between Pesth and Temesvar, 65 miles S.E. of the former. Pop. about 16,000. It has a Roman Catholic church, gymnasium, high school, and a court of justice, in which the archives of the district are preserved. It has also an extensive trade in corn, wine, fruit, and tobacco, and large cattle fairs are held here. Some Roman antiquities have been discovered in the vicinity.
