FLODDEN Field, in the county of Northumberland, eight miles S.E. of Coldstream, is memorable as the scene of the battle fought there on 9th September 1513 between the English under the Earl of Surrey and the Scotch commanded by James IV., in which the latter were totally defeated and their king slain.
