North and South, two headlands on the east coast of the county of Kent. North Foreland consists of chalky cliffs nearly 200 feet in height, and has a lighthouse with a fixed light 184 feet high, and seen 24 miles off. South Foreland is about 16 miles south of the former, and has two lighthouses 1347 feet apart, and 390 and 275 feet high, visible 25 and 22 miles off.
