a town of Spain, in the province of La Mancha and archbishopric of Toledo. It is situated on elevated ground at the foot of a low chain of hills on the royal road from Madrid to Ciudad-Real, from the latter of which it is distant 24 miles N.N.E., and contains 2315 inhabitants. Near this town is the cave Montesinos, into which Cervantes makes Don Quixote descend.
