a town of Hindustan, in the British district of Patna, under the jurisdiction of the Lieut.-Governor of Bengal, situated at the confluence of the Pompon with the Ganges, nine miles south of Patna, over which is a good bridge of brick. In 1574, when the Afghan army was retreating before Akbar, the bridge broke down, and the troops were mostly either drowned or put to the sword.
