(German Greyere), a town of Switzerland, canton of Freiburg, 15 miles S. of the town of that name, on a hill, the summit of which is crowned by one of the best preserved feudal castles in Switzerland. Its population does not amount to 400, but the district is noted for producing the celebrated cheese to which it gives name.
