a town of France, department of Loire Inferieure, arrondissement of Savenay, about 3 miles from the sea, 23 miles W. of Savenay. It occupies the slope of a hill, is surrounded by walls, and commanded by an old castle. The chief manufactures are woollen and cotton stuffs; and large quantities of salt are procured from salt marshes in the vicinity. Pop. 8550.
