Harping-Iron, a spear or javelin used for striking whales, &c. The *qua-harpoon* is a weapon used for the same purpose, but it is fired from a gun instead of being thrown by the hand. It is formed entirely of metal, and has a chain attached to it, to which the line is fastened. See Scoresby's Arctic Regions.
