a town of the island of Sardinia, 32 miles W.N.W. of Cagliari. It is finely situated amongst limestone hills, and abundantly watered by various springs. The surrounding country is highly productive of corn, wine, and fruits. Iglesias is the see of a bishop, and has a handsome episcopal palace, several convents, and a Jesuits' college. Pop. about 5000.
