a town in the province of Fars in Persia, 60 miles W. of Shiraz, in N. Lat. 29° 35', E. Long. 51° 38'. It is a strongly fortified place, situated in a fine valley, and stands 2800 feet above the sea level. It has manufactories for cotton, and carries on trade with Shiraz, and is a good mart for horses. Its population has dwindled down from 50,000 to 5000.
