Kadyak, a large island of Russian America, to the N.E. of the Aleutian group, among which it is sometimes included. It is separated from the mainland of Alaska by the Straits of Cheligooff, and is about 100 miles long by 50 in breadth. The general surface is very mountainous, and in the interior thickly wooded; the valleys are well watered, and the soil and climate are superior to those of the neighbouring islands. The coast, which abounds in whales, seals, &c., is indented by numerous bays; in the N. is the harbour and station of St Paul, the principal fur depot of these islands.

Kolomna, a town in the Russian province of Moscow, on the River Kolomenka, at its junction with the Moskwa, 66 miles S.S.E. of Moscow. It carries on an active trade between Moscow and the neighbouring country, and has manufactures of linen, cotton, silk, and woollen stuffs, leather, tallow, &c. Pop. (1850) 12,598.
