Volume 13 · 60 words · 1860 Edition

or Lebadeta (modern Livadha), a town of Bocotia, near the frontiers of Phocis, between Charonea and Mount Helicon. It is famous as the seat of the oracle of Trophonius; and in the time of Pausanias it seems to have been the most prosperous city of Bocotia. The town was twice plundered by Lysander; and by Archelaus, the general of Mithridates.
