or Eliquation, a method of reducing the ores of silver by forming a triple alloy of copper, silver, and lead, which being cast into round masses, are placed on edge in a furnace on an inclined plane of iron, contain- Liquorice ing a small channel, and raised to a red heat; as the lead melts out, by its attraction for silver it carries that metal with it, leaving the copper as a reddish-black spongy mass. The silver is recovered by one of the methods described under Lead. See also Assaying.
