an old province of Central France, bounded on the N. by Berri, N.E. by Bourbonnais, E. by Auvergne, S. by Limousin, S.W. by Guyenne, and W. by Angoumois and Poitou. It now forms the greater part of the department of Creuse, and parts of those of Haute-Vienne, Charente, and Indre.
