a town of Ireland, in the province of Leinster, and county of Kildare, is situated on the Royal Canal and Rye Water, 15 miles W. by N. of Dublin. The town consists of one street, extending from the entrance to Carston, the seat of the Duke of Leinster, on the E., to the Roman Catholic college on the W. There are in Maynooth a parish church, a Roman Catholic chapel and nunnery, a court-house, schools, and a dispensary. The college of Maynooth is a plain brick building, in the form of a quadrangle, with a frontage of 400 feet in length. The grounds belonging to it occupy an area of 54 acres.
