OLD, a burgh of barony and a parish of Scotland, Aberdeenshire, 18 miles N.N.W. of Aberdeen. The town contains an Established, a Free, a United Presbyterian, and an Episcopal church; two schools, and a savings-bank. The inhabitants are employed in agriculture, weaving, brewing, distilling, &c. Market-day, Saturday. Pop. (1851) of burgh, 1579.
