the act of naturalizing an alien, or putting him into the condition of a natural-born subject, and entitling him to the rights and privileges of that condition. Previous to the new act (7 and 8 Vict., c. 66) there could be no naturalization except by act of Parliament; but this statute has materially facilitated naturalization, and has made important alterations in the law referring to aliens.
